This Week

Nothing too exciting is happening with us this week as far as developments. Cori is walking more and more. She is walking more often than crawling at this point. She is so proud of herself when she gets to where she is going. She reaches her destination and says "Yay!"

She likes using her spoon to eat her yogurt. She is getting pretty proficient with a fork as well. Although she prefers to hold her fork in one hand and eat her food with the other hand. I have noticed more and more that she is favoring her left hand when it comes to using her utensils. My Mother will be thrilled for another lefty in the family!

Cori now has a total of 7 teeth coming through. 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. She has a few more ready to pop through at any time.

My Mother took Cori with her to some graduation parties today while i had church band practice. Apparently, Cori pet her first horse and it was a Draft horse of all kinds. Those are the kind that are big as Clydsdales. Mom said that Cori was not shy at all and put her hand right on the horse's nose. That's my fearless kid. Now we are looking forward to vacation. I can't wait!!

Pictures and a trip to Myah's House

Today Cori and i went to have her 1 year old pictures taken. Adam's day was slow so he surprised us by showing up at the photo studio on his lunch break! It must have done the trick because these are some of the best pictures Cori has ever taken. We will get them back on May 29th and i will be sure to post some.

After pictures and a much needed nap, we went over to Myah's house for dinner and play time. Cori loves to play with other kids and she and Myah got along well. Pretty soon Jack, the little next door neighbor came over and i think he felt a little overwhelmed with two little girls in the house. He was acting rather shy. Thanks Em for the great dinner.

While we were at Myah's house, Cori was able to roam around much more than she is able to at home. I am starting to see that my little one needs some more room to run while she is home. I am still a little hesitant to leave her out and about with the Hanford and Shelby. I don't want anything to happen to her. But i think i need to reconfigure her play area so she has more room to roam. I keep freaking out that my kitchen floor is dirty but kids wash right? She is just growing up so fast and needs more room to explore. I am not sure Mommy is ready for her to grow up so fast.

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day, and before my bundle of joy went to bed tonight, she started walking. Well, Adam won't call it walking but i think that if you take 8-10 steps before you fall, that is an awfully great start! So i will call it walking.

Adam and i have been working with her these last few weeks. We would sit on the floor and have her "walk" between us. We would be holding her hands and little by little she would use us less and less for support. Yesterday my Mom and i were working with her and she let go and took a couple steps before falling. Today, Adam and his Mother worked with her and got more of the same. When i came home from church, Adam and i worked with her again. The first time she gathered herself and balanced and then started walking without Mommy and Daddy for support i nearly cried. She was loving it so much she just wanted to keep doing it over and over and started taking more and more steps before she would fall.

Won't be long now til she will be into everything. Watching her grow is so exciting. I love being a Mom.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there.

Blowing Kisses

Tonight my mom dropped by on her way home from work to say hello. As she was leaving she was saying goodbye to Cori and Cori started blowing her kisses. This is the first time she has done this without being prompted and it is the first time she has done it in front of anyone but Adam or myself. It was so sweet and my Mother and i were so surprised.

Thank you Kerry and the TWC Gods!

My sister Kerry had a nice little surprise for Adam and i on Saturday night. Her husband was able to get two tickets to the Dayton Dragons baseball game (including VIP parking) and Kerry offered to babysit Cori while Adam and i went! The only hitch was making sure Adam was able to get off work on time and with the help of a very nice dispatcher, HE WAS!!!

I dropped Cori off at Kerry's and while i was feeling a little pull of mother's guilt for leaving her, Cori was like, "see ya bye!" and so off i went to pick up Adam. So much for Cori being clingy. I guess she was looking forward to playing with her cousins.

Adam and i had a great time! We had super seats along the third base line. Even though we both told each other that we would need to be watchful so we didn't get beaned with a foul ball, while we were talking to each other, we nearly got beaned with a foul ball!!!! The food was way too expensive, it didn't taste very good, it was freezing cold and windy and still we had a great time! It was nice to be on a date with my husband and i hope we get to do it again soon.

I did miss Cori and i called Kerry once to see how she was and of course, she was just fine. And it did Mommy and Daddy some good to go out and be just Husband and Wife for a couple of hours.

Teething

Cori is cutting teeth. And she is cutting them all at once. Poor kid. She has four uppers that are trying to come in. One has already broken through and a second is just starting to poke a corner out. Her poor little gums are so swollen.

Neither she nor i am getting much sleep, as the night time seems to be when the pain is worse. I have tried all the "teething relief" methods and nothing really seems to help. The only method that Cori likes is her pacifier. She chews that thing for all she is worth! I had to go out and buy two more since she has pulverized a couple of her others. I hate drugging her up with Motrin every night but the teething tablets aren't cutting it (no pun intended) and we both need to get some sleep.

However, if this is the worst that her behavior is and the worst that her whining is, then we are pretty lucky parents. And actually, she is still a very happy little girl and still gives her Mommy kisses whenever the mood strikes her. Even whiney and unhappy, she is still the best medicine around for someone who is feeling down. Just ask Adam. He comes home from work ready to chuck the whole thing, and then Cori says "Daddy" with a great big smile on her face. After a couple minutes rolling around on the floor together, i see him relax and smile and i know he is feeling better.
